App Security to be dropped from FREEDOME VPN for Android - F-Secure Community

App Security to be dropped from FREEDOME VPN for Android
F-Secure has decided to drop the antivirus functionality, known as App Security, from FREEDOME VPN for Android as of December 12, 2022.

The App Security feature has been available for FREEDOME Android users only. To make sure that you are fully covered on all your devices, not just on Android, we have decided to harmonize our VPN offering.

In 2023, F-Secure will introduce a completely new F-Secure app which contains, in addition to the antivirus functionality, also other critical security components, such as VPN; Browsing protection; ID Monitoring; Password Vault; Family Rules, for all devices, on all key platforms. In this type of configuration, we will be able to offer a functionality combination, such as VPN + Antivirus, not only for Android but also for Windows, Mac and iOS, in one single app.

Despite this change, F-Secure will continue to actively develop its VPN product features.

Note: At the same time with the drop of App Security from FREEDOME VPN, we will also drop the support for Android versions 6 and 7. Users whose device still runs on these older versions will not get the update. This means that App Security will remain in the product but it will no longer receive any updates. To stay protected, we recommend that you eventually switch over to another antivirus product, such as F-Secure Total.
