F-Secure requires a My F-Secure account for all standalone F-Secure VPN subscriptions.
Note: F-Secure FREEDOME VPN has been recently renamed to F-Secure VPN. While the old product name might still appear in certain instances, the level of protection remains unchanged.
Note: This article does not apply to you if you have bought your F-Secure VPN subscription from App Store or Google Play Store.

Next time when you renew your F-Secure VPN subscription, you will be guided to the My F-Secure page where you must create your account to be able to start using the product. You are required to fill in your name, email address and password.
Important: If you already have a My F-Secure account with no valid product subscription, you must first delete the existing account and then create a new account for your F-Secure VPN subscription. The reason for this is that we use your email address as the username for the account, and you cannot use the same email address for the new account unless you delete the old account. If you have forgotten the account password, select the Forgot your password? link on the My F-Secure page and we will send you instructions on how to change your password.
Why do I need to create a My F-Secure account?
When you buy the standalone F-Secure VPN product from our webstore or a reseller, to be able to start protecting your devices, you must create a My F-Secure account. It only takes a moment to sign up, and you will have all your security information in one easy-to-use portal.
Many of us have more than one device and making sure that all of them are protected at all times can be quite challenging. My F-Secure gives you an overview of your whole subscription and devices, whereas in the app you can only control the protection status of an individual device.
What are the benefits for you?

What happens to my anonymity if I have to create an account?
VPN services cannot make you fully anonymous, but they do improve your privacy and security online.
With F-Secure VPN, you can encrypt your data traffic and hide your real IP address. We don't read your traffic, nor do we know what traffic is yours. We don't share nor sell any of your traffic.
We respect your privacy and only process personal data needed to provide our services and to communicate with you. We don't share your My F-Secure account information with third parties.
The information you enter to purchase your F-Secure VPN subscription, such as payment card details, is handled by the online store or app store provider. These third-party resellers' privacy policies apply to the actual purchase and related activities. F-Secure does not have access to your payment information. What if I still have a valid subscription code?
If you have a valid subscription code, you can continue using the code on the devices that you have already activated until the subscription expires. If you wish, you can immediately create a My F-Secure account and then convert the subscription code into usage time.
However, if you have a subscription code and want to use F-Secure VPN on a new device, you must create the My F-Secure account immediately and then log in to your account to convert the subscription code into usage time.
To convert the subscription code into usage time:
- Create a My F-Secure account.
- When prompted, enter your subscription code.
- Open the VPN app.
- Select Subscription > Log in.
- Enter your account credentials.
- Repeat steps 3-5 on each device having the VPN app.
I have F-Secure Internet Security or F-Secure ID Protection and a subscription code for the VPN app that I want to take into use. What do I need to do?
If you have an F-Secure Internet Security (formerly known as F-Secure SAFE) or ID Protection subscription and have received a subscription code for F-Secure VPN, please be aware that activating this code will change your current product in My F-Secure.
When you enter the VPN subscription code, your current subscription will switch to F-Secure VPN, and the remaining days from your previous subscription will be transferred to the new product. This means you will no longer have access to the features of your original F-Secure Internet Security or ID Protection product unless they are included in your new plan.
You will be informed of this change in My F-Secure before completing the process, and you can choose not to accept the change if you wish to keep your current subscription.
To activate your F-Secure VPN:
- Log in to My F-Secure.
- Enter the subscription code you received for F-Secure VPN.
If you do not wish to proceed with this change, do not enter the subscription code for the VPN. Please consider upgrading to F-Secure Total, which offers full online protection, including VPN, identity protection, and more, without changing your current subscription features.
How do I renew my F-Secure VPN subscription?
If you already have a My F-Secure account, log in to the account, select Renew now and follow the on-screen instructions.
If you don't have a My F-Secure account yet, follow the notifications in the app to renew your subscription or go to the F-Secure VPN renewal page on our website. During the renewal flow, you will be guided to create your My F-Secure account.
If you have a valid subscription code and don't have a My F-Secure account yet, create the account, log in to the account and enter your subscription code to activate your licenses. Your devices that already have the VPN app installed will become visible in the My F-Secure portal after you log in to your account on each device having the app:
- Open the VPN app.
- Select Subscription > Log in.
- Enter your account credentials.
Note: If you have not completed the above steps, as soon as your subscription expires, your devices will no longer be protected until you log in to your My F-Secure account via the VPN app on each device.
What is My F-Secure?
My F-Secure is the home of your protection. It is the management portal for all the devices that are protected with your subscription. Apart from managing your VPN product, all subscription-related information is available in the portal.
The portal shows when your subscription expires and how many free licenses you have left. If your subscription is about to end or you have run out of licenses, you can extend your subscription or buy more licenses through the portal.
Through My F-Secure, you can also share your licenses with other family members and friends by inviting them to your My F-Secure group.
