Support for Windows 10 32-bit ending on September 30, 2024
F-Secure will stop supporting the Windows 10 32-bit operating system on September 30, 2024.
Microsoft introduced support for 64-bit already in Windows XP 2005. Since then both the hardware and the Windows operating system have been shifting towards 64-bit architecture. Beginning with Windows 10 v2004, all new Windows 10 systems must use 64-bit builds and Microsoft will no longer release 32-bit builds for OEM distribution. Windows 11 has never supported 32-bit. In practice anyone with a computer less than 10 years old is already likely to be in the 64-bit environment.
F-Secure brings the support for 32-bit Windows versions to End of Support to be able protect users better on newer and more relevant operating system environments.
What does this mean?
As of September 30, 2024, there will be no product upgrades for computers running 32-bit versions of Windows 10. Additionally, you will no longer be able to reinstall the product on 32-bit versions of Windows 10 after that date. The last supported version for Windows 32-bit systems is 19.6. However, currently installed versions will continue to receive virus database updates until May 31, 2025.
What do I need to do?
To stay protected, we recommend that you either upgrade the operating system to a newer version of Windows or purchase a new computer that uses a new version of Windows.
