How do I install .NET Framework 6.0? Microsoft .NET Framework 6.0 is required to run applications on Windows environments. The F-Secure app (as of release 19.2) requires this version of .NET Framework to show the product user interface.
When you install the F-Secure app, the installer automatically tries to install the .NET Framework if it is missing from your computer. However, if it cannot complete the installation automatically, the installer shows you an error message with a link to information on how to install the .NET Framework manually.
To install .NET Framework 6.0.* manually:
- Go to https://dotnet.microsoft.com/en-us/download/dotnet/6.0.
- Download the installer for the .NET Desktop runtime 6.0.* package for Windows OS on the right column. Make sure that you download the "Desktop runtime" installer, not the other installers (SDK, ASP.NET, ect.).
Note: The build number of the installer changes frequently. Always download the latest version which starts with 6.0.
- If you have a 64-bit version of Windows, click the x64 link.
- If you have a 32-bit version of Windows, click the x86 link.
- If you don't know which version of Windows you have, select Start menu > Settings > System > About. Under Device specifications > System type, you can see your Windows version.
- Find the file in your Downloads folder, right-click it and select Run as administrator.
- Accept the license terms and click Install. The installation starts.
- Once installation is complete, click Finish.
Note: You must restart your computer to complete the installation.
Note: If the manual installation fails, check the error message. If you cannot solve the issue based on the error message, contact F-Secure support.
