Switching from Freedome VPN to the new F-Secure app The F-Secure Freedome VPN app will soon be reaching end of life. This article walks you through the steps needed to move from the old app to using VPN in the F-Secure app.
F-Secure Freedome VPN will be discontinued, and existing customers will be moved to the F-Secure app with the same VPN functionality during 2024.
However, if you need to install the existing Freedome VPN app before you switch to the new app, you can use these links to download the app or installation package:
By focusing on the F-Secure app, we can bring you new features and improvements quicker than we could when maintaining the same functionality in separate apps.
The new app no longer supports app store purchases or using a subscription code without an account. Instead, you can manage the subscription for all your devices in your My F-Secure account. When you switch to the new app, your current subscription is transferred and stays valid for the remaining subscription period.
Note:
- If you already have F-Secure Total installed on your device, you do not need to follow the steps given here. All you need to do is uninstall the Freedome VPN app and use the Privacy VPN feature in Total instead.
- If you use both F-Secure Freedome VPN and F-Secure ID Protection and want to manage both with the same My F-Secure account, please contact our customer support for instructions.
If you still have a valid subscription for the old mobile app and need to reinstall it, but it is no longer available in the app store, follow these steps:
- Open the app store on your mobile device.
- Tap your profile picture or icon in the top-right corner.
- Tap Purchased (iOS) or select Manage apps and device > Manage > Not installed (Android).
- Search for the app and tap the cloud icon (iOS) or select the app and then tap the download icon (Android) to download the app again.
To switch to the new F-Secure app:
- Go to the My F-Secure page and log in to your account or create a new one. If you already have an account for Freedome VPN:
- Enter your email address and password in the login form.
- Select Log in. The My F-Secure page opens.
If you have purchased Freedome VPN from a retail store, you have to create a new account: - Select Register now.
- Enter your name, email address, and a password in the account registration form.
- Select Accept and create account. Once the account has been created, the My F-Secure page opens and you are asked to enter your subscription code.
- Enter your subscription code, then select Confirm. You can find your subscription code on the product box, confirmation email, or receipt, depending on where you have bought the product.
The license status shown in My F-Secure applies to the new product. - Select Add device and follow the on-screen instructions to install the new app on your device.
- Once you have installed the new app, uninstall the Freedome VPN app from your device.
- If you have installed Freedome VPN on several devices, install the new app and uninstall the old app on each of those devices.
