Hello @Adie
Welcome to the F-Secure Community. Thank you for your post.
After clicking Setup, a page will open in Google Chrome. If the extension is not yet installed, you will see the option "Add to Chrome".
If it is already installed, you will see "Remove from Chrome" instead.
For more information on managing your installed extensions, please check out this Google support link: Manage your extensions.
If you need any further assistance, feel free to reach out.
Thank you, and have a great day.

Hello,
What is your platform for F-Secure? Is it Windows, macOS or mobile one? And what browser?
I think, usually, with Windows (Checking that browser extensions are in use) - related store in Browser should be opened or some popups with dialogs about addition of extension.
With macOS: Checking that browser extensions are in use
If Android, at what stage did you encounter problems: Setting up the Chrome Protection extension?
// after knowing your OS and browser, it may be helpful to know what happened after:
I click on Setup as instructed, but cannot see the option to install anywhere
I mean, did something open and you can't find a way to install? or nothing happened at all after clicking Setup?
Thanks

I have loaded the browsing extension for F-Secure and checked that it is on but I get the message that it was loaded by a third party. This is not the case since it was me that loaded it. Maybe the problem is that several years ago I changed my email address to a Google account. Does this mean that it is not functioning ? I continually get the instruction to load it when this has been done. Please help.

Hello,
I continually get the instruction to load it when this has been done. Please help.
I can speculate that you are facing the current trouble for Chromium-based web browsers (Microsoft Edge, Google Chrome) - where due to their internal changes, the F-Secure extension is incorrectly showed as not configured in some situations in F-Secure user interface.
One example of a discussion of this problem: F-secure browser extension changing between working and not working on Edge and the same on Chrome
In this problem - once the browser is launched, there should be no 'instruction to load it'. And the extension itself functions normally, for example.
checked that it is on but I get the message that it was loaded by a third party. This is not the case since it was me that loaded it.
Since we are talking about an extension that you installed yourself, then perhaps this is explained by the installation method. For example, perhaps F-Secure software when you clicked install through the user interface had the ability to add the extension manually, so to speak.
I hope that the official representatives will be able to comment. But I can say that I also saw such a remark on one of my laptops for one of the browsers.
However, can you tell what version of the extension is written for you? For example, it could be Browsing Protection by F-Secure, 6.7.5
Does this mean that it is not functioning ?
You can try testing it by using safe URLs (provided by F-Secure): https://www.kb.f-secure.com/s/article/Windows-MacOS-Android-iOS-Testing-Browsing-and-Tracking-Protection-with-safe-URLs?language=en_US
It is possible, to open 'unsafe' one and it should be blocked with branded F-Secure blockpage.
Then, you can try visit 'banking' one and F-Secure Banking Protection session should be activated with green frame around your screen.
Another way is to open any supported Search engine (Google Search, Bing Search, Yahoo Search or DuckDuckGo), type any query and see if there are 'rating' logos near search results.
Thanks!
