Does it about F-Secure SAFE (?) and if yes -> what certain step will trigger "something went wrong"?
Or about F-Secure Internet Security (or F-Secure Freedome VPN?! directly or as part of F-Secure TOTAL);
--> Your experience about 'reached' limits for devices with installed software? And with next try to install it for another devices -> not possible to 're-use' license?
--> Or you want to send installation-letter for another device from My F-Secure Account?
--> Maybe some other steps?

Thanks for your reply, I am trying to add my husbands lap top on my account, I still have room for 4 devices, it let's me get so far and then I get that stupid something went wrong.

With your situation - available some of steps/designs (based on F-Secure SAFE):
--> For example, if you with access to laptop -> possible logging to your account under this device and trigger installation 'for this device';

So, I'm still not sure what certain step create a "something went wrong":
-> if during try to download installer from "My F-Secure Account" portal - maybe good to try another browser (or re-check that scripts did not block by any addons/plugins of browser);
-> if during launch installer - maybe can be useful to try F-Secure Uninstallation Tool before triggerring fresh installation:
