F Secure Pop ups

My F Secure is set to process unwanted files automatically but still "Pops up" to say it is doing something which means I have to acknowledge it rather than it process the files in the background.  I can't see a setting to change this. It happens so frequently I'm thinking of changing. Could anyone help please? I run W10 on an Acer Aspire. Many thanks!

If you're getting very frequent pop-ups as you describe, this suggests that there may be a lot of malware on the machine, or some that F-Secure cannot remove.  Do the pop-ups relate to the same thing each time?  I've been running FS for several years, and probably only see a pop-up once or twice a year.

 

If you open the UI and go to Settings > Virus Protection, you should see links at the bottom to 'View Removal History' and 'View Quarantine'.  Have a look at those and see if the same items keep appearing,

 

It may also be worth running a scan with something like Malwarebytes as that can find and remove some types of adware and PUPs (Potentially Unwanted Programs) which FS cannot.

many thanks for your suggestion, I ran the free version of Malwarebytes and since then, touchwood, the pop ups have stopped - was it simply therer were items F Secure could not remove that MB could?? Many thanks for your very helpful advice,

It's possible, as F-Secure isn't designed to remove adware or certain, non-virus, but 'nuisance' type programs. MWB will find these, so it's not a bad idea to have that on board as well, as it will run happily alongside F-Secure.
