    Hello,

Sorry for my reply. I am also only an F-Secure user.

I think, there are two ways:

    • to investigate a bit and to contact official F-Secure Support channels for sharing some diagnostic data; then wait for any suggestion about.
    • to reinstall F-Secure Total; and likely get a working state.

Recently I got this type of trouble (unsure about reasons) on two systems and fixed it by reinstallation.

About the first way: could you tell more things - how and when did this happen? I mean, why did this prompt start showing up? Out of the blue after turning on the computer again? Or were there any actions before that? And any other information in general: system version, anything else useful on the topic.

You could try to use F-Secure Support Tool (https://help.f-secure.com/product.html#home/total-windows/latest/en/task_440332E5EC0C44C8B02B8C2F40E21654-latest-en) and then reach support via web-chat, for example (https://www.f-secure.com/en/support).

In this way it may become clear why such a problem occurred. How to fix it for you and for all other users. And everything else useful as a result of the reported problem.

However, it is possible that your laptop's protection is currently faulty and you should not leave it in this state (if you are going to use it intensively). In my case - I saw that F-Secure Hoster (Restricted) service was not running. And ultimately - all (or most of) features were disabled as a result.

So, about the second way: I tried to perform uninstallation and then re-install it back.

the trouble is you need be sure that (for example) things like Password Vault are available somewhere and normally backed up, just in case.

I tried reinstallation by uninstalling F-Secure via Control Panel (Windows common uninstallation design), then I tried to use F-Secure's dedicated tool for uninstallation as a further clean-up; and then I reinstall it back. Still both systems with working solutions.

If you are not going to use F-Secure Uninstallation Tool and just uninstall F-Secure via list of installed app in system (Windows), then Password Vault should be presaved by default (as I think). After installing F-Secure back, most likely Password Vault will recognize existed storage and suggested to use it.

    Thanks!
