1.After DeepGuard was removed from the program revision, the use of scanning and targeting reports is too simple
From version 19.8 to version 25.2, the system has been greatly simplified, but there are too many scanning reports, which makes people feel uneasy, especially the "unscanned items" results cannot be seen

2.Is "unscanned items" manually Excluding files or folders from scanning?

3.Starting from March 3, the customer saw two processing programs "Endpoint Protection Service" and "Sentry Protection SDK" on the computer with Avira icons, which frightened him and worried about Avira mining. Does F-Secure have any relevant instructions for the services using this engine? Or can you provide a brief explanation to respond to customers?

4.The customer mentioned the browser reputation rating of URL analysis and found that after being temporarily "safe", it became "unanalyzed". Ask about the criteria for analysis judgment?

    Hello @Debby

    Thank you for your question.

If scanning is performed multiple times a week, F-Secure will not scan the same files again unless they have changed. This is expected behavior to optimize performance.

It is normal for some files not to be scanned. Possible reasons include:

    1. Operating system protection – Some files are protected by the operating system and cannot be scanned.
    2. Permission restrictions – The file may belong to another user, and you may not have the necessary permissions to access it. To scan these files, try logging in with an administrator account.
    3. File in use – The file may be actively used by another application during the scan. To scan such files, close all applications and try again.

These files are no longer displayed in the scanning report.

Both services are included in the F-Secure Total product and work with Virus Protection to detect and remove harmful files.

4.The customer mentioned the browser reputation rating of URL analysis and found that after being temporarily "safe", it became "unanalyzed". Ask about the criteria for analysis judgment?

Regarding website ratings, all safe websites are periodically re-evaluated by our cloud backend. While it is uncommon for users to see an "unknown" rating for frequently visited websites, it can occasionally happen for less-visited sites.

Do let us know if you need further assistance.

Thank you and have a lovely day.

Here's a test found on the net that leaving Deep Guard for Sentry seems not to have been a good deal.

Ecco un test trovato in rete secondo cui lasciare Deep Guard per Sentry pare non sia stato un buon affare.

So now there is no proprietary Fsecure DeepGuard? What engines are there now? Any proprietary Fsecure left, including DeepGuard, or has Fsecure become a "clone" of Avira?

    Sentra by Avira replaced DeepGuard?

I hope it didn't go that far.....But if it's true with Avira or some takeover by Gen Digital, then I'm really sorry :(

Fsecure was really a very nice and decent antivirus.

If it's true, then we'll have to apologize to Bitdefender or Eset. These are the only decent alternatives and they're European with their own engines and technologies.

Unfortunately it looks like Fsecure is now Avira. But we have to say goodbye.

    What a shame...

    R.I.P Fsecure :(

    But what a disappointment!

the Avira icon eating our CPU and makes our computers hot. After +25 years appreciating and recommending F-secure to our friends I and my wife will have to leave F-secure because of this. No more a proprietary F-secure DeepGuard .. is this an update to make us leave? Even as we have paid to years end. What a shame ..F-Secure was really a nice and decent antivirus (and European). I am sure F-Secure will lose clients taking such bad decisions.

Help! I and My wife need to downgrade to use what we have paid for and this before overheating destroying our computers. This is flabbergasting bad How can this sabotage even be allowed to happen to a good product. How can we downgrade? Is it even possible? Please give step by step instructions.
    Thanks in advance, Carl

    Hello,

No help from me except, have you tried a device restart, have you tried an uninstall and reinstall?

Other than my scan issue I posted elsewhere (below link), this version has had very little impact on my system (8 GB Ram, Intel i5-1235U 2.50GHz, Windows 11 24H2) It was that way with both Total and now Internet Security that I replaced it with (my Total subscription is expiring). Sometimes files open a little slow using this version, but here is where I'm at on my end.

    Kind regards.

    Thanks

we have Total until December (a 9 computers subscription) and forced to I will leave F-secure bc of this. For now just want to downgrade so we can use the money we paid for up until then. If I was I shareholder I would sell when taking such counter client bad service measures.

Then it sounds like @Firmy will have to help you or steer you in the right direction. I suppose phone (I don't know if it's Toll-Free?) or chat support could help, scroll 1/2 down this page:

    https://www.f-secure.com/us-en/support#total

I hope it gets resolved for you, Carl99.

    thank you so much

this is really flabbergasting bad to clients like me. What happened to good old F-secure?
It updated itself today and never in over 25 years have an update affected our computers in such a bad way. They made changes and our computers are spinning hot. I need to downgrade or use another antivirus BUT we shouldn't be needed for as we paid for this one.

All the sudden my paid for antivurus F-secure became a problem much worse than actually having a Virus.

It will kill our computers by overheating! Not only is "Endpoint Protection Service" eating a lot of memory it does it even when not using any program at all, not even the internet, it takes CPU and it takes memory like never before. AND its not only it self because it also connected to a DNS service client eating at the same table. Note that this was never like this before.

The system full scan is so heavy one cannot work with anything besides it and trying to pause and restart works but all the same it now takes 100% of the computer CPU & half of the memory and sometimes 100% of the disk making it so hot I had to pause several times and restart (never so before) Just think how bad it is running for hours on 100%. How good is that for a computer? On pause "Endpoint Protection Service" still takes 35% CPU for a quite long time when "preparing to pause"... THEN it stopped during this process at 11% (those memory eating program also stopped eating ) AND although Windows at this moment reports warning "no antivirus protecting the computer" F-secure still tells me it is protected (it is not looking at the performance of mentioned files)

The full scan process stopped but couldn't close the scanning screen. I cannot underscore enough how bad it is having a paid for antivirus not solving but GIVING us problems. A program not being optimized to eat less resources but now becoming useless. I ran the full scan the program once again. This time it reached the end but jumped from 11% to 100% all the sudden. It checked 25% more files this last time and found no viruses.

So now while done this to the end. Opening Gmail or any site the Endpoint Protection Service and its connected DNS service process still takes around 20% constantly (and this was NOT like this before this update) .

Moreover, I really enjoyed having and using the VPN as I'm living in a EU country where I was not born. It's also an extra security. I gladly paid for Freedome separately but then F-secure integrated it in Total so now because of these upgrades we will not only have to find another Antivirus but also another VPN provider. I am truly Sad and disappointed. How will F-secure gain clients this way?

I will now want to downgrade to 19.8 or alike if I can stay on it and get only virus database updates or else get the money back for our 9 computer subscription. Seriously, how will F-secure make money by making so bad "updates" that it forces +25 years faithful clients to leave?
