Upgrade F-Secure Internet Security to F-Secure Total on multiple machines

Since some weeks F-Secure Internet Security notifies me to upgrade to F-Secure Total. Running a small business with 10 computers - and 10 licences - I figure out the following issues:

  1. I upgraded on one machine as described in the instructions. Since then I have an account and my existing licence on this machine for this user is included in the account.
  2. If I try to add other machines with valid licences using this user account with the "add device"-function I get the message "all your licences are in use". I've found no way to upgrade the nine other machines to F-Secure total without creating a new user account for each machine; this is not what I want to do. Hence I am not able to upgrade all the other machines. What to do?
  3. If I login as administrator on the one machine which I upgraded to F-Secure Total as administrator (not as the standard user) F-Secure wants me to additionally add the device and offers me only the possiblity to add it as a "child's machine". Nevertheless this machine has an existing valid licence. Why that?

As a customer for approximately 25 years of F-Secure I am really disappointed by this "upgrade". By the way: I don't want to have intrusive "apps". I simply want to have a working antivirus etc. solution for my machines without the need of registering every user etc. as F-Secure provided it up to now. If this kind of intrusive "licencing" is the future of F-Secure I will definitely switch to another product after 25 years.

    Hello @mrothbau

Welcome to the F-Secure Community. Thank you for your post.

I upgraded on one machine as described in the instructions. Since then I have an account and my existing licence on this machine for this user is included in the account.

If I try to add other machines with valid licences using this user account with the "add device"-function I get the message "all your licences are in use". Each activation code requires a separate account to migrate the subscription, and the number of licenses will match the number of devices linked to that specific code. However, we can consolidate all codes under one account for your convenience. To proceed, I've sent you a private message. Please share the 10 codes with us so we can verify their expiry dates and associated email addresses.

If I login as administrator on the one machine which I upgraded to F-Secure Total as administrator (not as the standard user) F-Secure wants me to additionally add the device and offers me only the possiblity to add it as a "child's machine". May I clarify with you that you logged in on to another Windows user account on the same PC? If an activation has been done on one user account and subsequently, another user logs in on the same device, F-Secure may prompt for activation as a child profile. Therefore, multiple user accounts on a PC should log in as sub-users to consume only one license. For more details, refer to these links:

Alternatively, you can opt not to log in, and the application will function as a regular antivirus.

We can assist you in migrating to the new F-Secure Internet Security. Once we have the required details, we'll proceed with migrating the subscriptions.

    Looking forward to your response.

Thank you and have a great day.
