Release 17.11 beta 3 (build 37815)
We are pleased to announce a new release of FS Protection for Mac. This update is now available for download from My FS Protection and delivery to existing installations starts today.
"Security Cloud" based file reputation for AV scanner and DeepGuard introduced
This release of FS Protection changes the way AV scanner and DeepGuard check reputation of suspicious files by incorporating "Security Cloud" F-Secure backend capabilities.
You can learn more about Security Cloud by visiting this link: https://download.sp.f-secure.com/eula/latest/security_cloud_eng.html
New feature: Spyware (UA) detection
This release of FS Protection adds an ability to distinguish between different types of infections and apply appropriate action based on the type.
- PUA (Potentially Unwanted Applications) are blocked on 10.15 and higher. False positives can be added to scanning exclusions list through the Infection Report UI or by accessing "Scanning exclusions" option on the FS Protection pref pane. We encourage you to submit false positives at https://www.f-secure.com/en/business/support-and-downloads/submit-a-sample
- UA (Unwanted Applications) are blocked and trashed.
- Malware is blocked and trashed (no changes to malware handling).
DeepGuard:
- Stability improvements in code signature validation flows
- Improved localization for DeepGuard feature name and its UI & prompts
- Hardened file access permissions for DeepGuard files and directories
- Creating an override DeepGuard policy through "Access blocked" dialog now requires the admin password as authorization
Other changes:
- Improvements to detection of conflicting products installed on the system during installation of FS Protection.
- Adjusting browser extension logic to reflect changes of Google engine page layout.
- Improved handling of detections telemetry sent by FS Protection.
Known issues:
- Attention to users of M1 devices. Unfortunately, there is a bug in the previous release of FS Protection (beta 2) that prevents silent upgrade from completing properly. Please download FS Protection installer from "My FS Protection" portal manually. This is a one time issue. The fix for this is already incorporated into FS Protection beta 3 release. We apologize for the inconvenience.
- New "Allow deeper analysis" checkbox on the Privacy tab of FS Protection pref pane is not yet fully functional (it does not control the actual behavior associated with it). This will be adjusted in the upcoming releases.
- Missing localization. Certain new texts have not yet gone through the localization procedures (will be adjusted in the upcoming releases).
If you experience any issues, please run the "Support Tool" in the Applications -> "fs protection" folder and submit a bug report with the file created to allow us to investigate the issue. For issues related to Browsing protection and Parental control, remember to include any URLs that reproduce the problem in your bug report. Hello, @david_paz!
The final 17.11 version is now being gradually released to production. The production variant of FS Protection is called F-Secure SAFE. What we usually do is we release each last stable version of FS Protection to production as SAFE product and continue working on new features, improvements and bug fixes at the same time with new FS Protection releases.
So, SAFE for Mac 17.11 is now available for downloading from My F-Secure portal. And we will start upgrading existing SAFE customers later this summer (around August).
And at the same time FS Protection is going further with the future 18.0 release. This release is scheduled for later this year (the current plan is around September-October). There will be of course more FS Protection releases till then.
Hope that clears the situation 😀

Hello @ArthurVal
Thanks for your quick response. And for Business company?
We have a F-secure computer protection premium licenses for all devices in the company, and when I try to download the mkg for Mac devices, is downloaded version 17.10(36471) not the new 17.11. Do you know when is available to download on the F-Secure Elements Security Center portal?
Thank's and best regards!

Hi, @david_paz
Unfortunately, I don't know the much about the schedule for business side products.
I'd recommend asking in the business security products section of the Community forum: https://community.f-secure.com/en/categories/business-security-products or contacting Customer Care.
