My vpn hasn’t worked for about an entire week now. It takes ages to connect and then when it does, it seems to freeze and I still can’t use. Even though I have an active subscription for a year, I am having to pay for other vpn services or I can’t access anything at all.

Apologize for the experience you've had with Freedome. Its known one that telecommunications carriers in China were instructed by the government to block individuals use of VPNs by February 2018. So VPN's are banned from use in China as you can find more information in our KB article.
