I have an F-Secure Freedome subscription which is about to renew soon. I also have an F-Secure Safe subscription, which is renewing later this year. How can I combine these into a single F-Secure Total subscription, please, so that the the remaining subsription period for Safe gets taken into account, too?

Both with meanings that ?! should be possible to see/use renew button (or so) under My F-Secure Account portal. And, generally, with close to expiration date.
Also, I think that it is good to ask direct F-Secure Support Channels (chat or phone):
about your certain situation when F-Secure SAFE subscription with visible count of available days before expiration. Does it will be possible to extend it to your TOTAL upgrade for SAFE (and what will be with Freedome). Partly, it is unclear. And good if you will back with result information.
Otherwise, maybe F-Secure Community Managers or F-Secure Teams with abilities to answer there for proper view!
