F-Secure SAFE supports Microsoft Edge (Chromium-based) browser On 15 January 2020, Microsoft released its new web browser, Microsoft Edge (Chromium-based), which will eventually replace the desktop Edge browser.
The new browser is based on Chromium which is a free and open-source web browser project developed by Google. It will be available on Windows 7, 8, and 10, as well as on macOS.
On 28 January, 2020, F-Secure released an update to F-Secure SAFE. The new update supports Microsoft Edge (Chromium-based). When the update comes to you, Microsoft Edge automatically installs the Browsing Protection extension on your computer. Once you open up the browser for the first time, it will ask you to switch the Browsing Protection extension on.
For desktop computers, Browsing Protection by F-Secure is a browser extension (add-on) that is part of F-Secure SAFE. Browser Protection blocks harmful and suspicious websites to ensure the safety of your computer and personal data. It also adds a reputation rating icon before each link on search results page.
When the extension is switched on in your browser, Browsing Protection keeps your browsing and internet banking safe by supporting both encrypted (HTTPS) and non-encrypted (HTTP) traffic.
