Issue:
When opening F-Secure TOTAL or F-Secure Internet Security, I get an error "Computer is not protected". It also tells me to restart the device.
Resolution:
There are a number of reasons why your F-Secure security product (F-Secure TOTAL or F-Secure Internet Security) is reporting "Computer is not protected":
- The computer is pending a restart after a Windows or product update
- The product is not able to download the latest definition from F-Secure servers
- The product is malfunctioning
Follow the steps below one by one, and check after each step to see if it resolved the issue:
- Restart the computer.
- After restarting the computer, open the F-Secure security app and check if the issue is resolved.
- Check Windows updates:
- If needed, run the updates
- Select the Start button, then select Settings > Update & security > Windows Update.
- If you want to check for updates manually, select Check for updates.
- Select Advanced options, and then under Choose how updates are installed, select Automatic (recommended).
- Perform a manual update on the product. Make sure your computer is connected to the Internet.
- Open F-Secure TOTAL or Internet Security
- Click Virus & Threats
- Click Check for updates
- Re-start F-Secure TOTAL/Internet Security
- Open F-Secure TOTAL or Internet Security.
- Click Virus & Threats
- Click Turn off all protection
- Re-start PC
- Uninstall and reinstall the product. It may be malfunctioning.
