Switching from ID Protection to the new F-Secure app The F-Secure ID Protection app will soon be reaching end of life. This article walks you through the steps needed to move from the old app to using Password Vault and ID Monitoring in the F-Secure app.
F-Secure ID Protection will be discontinued, and existing customers will be moved to the F-Secure app with the same password manager and identity monitoring functionality. As of April 24, 2024, no new installations or subscription renewals will be possible for the old app, and existing installations will not receive any new product updates after May 22, 2024.
By focusing on the F-Secure app, we can bring you new features and improvements quicker than we could when maintaining the same functionality in separate apps.
You can manage the subscription for the new app and all your devices in your My F-Secure account. When you switch to the new app, your current subscription is transferred and stays valid for the remaining subscription period.
If you need to reinstall the old mobile app and it is no longer available in the app store, follow these steps
Note: If you use both F-Secure Freedome VPN and F-Secure ID Protection and want to manage both with the same My F-Secure account, please contact our customer support for instructions.
If you still have a valid subscription for the old mobile app and need to reinstall it, but it is no longer available in the app store, follow these steps:
- Open the app store on your mobile device.
- Tap your profile picture or icon in the top-right corner.
- Tap Purchased (iOS) or select Manage apps and device > Manage > Not installed (Android).
- Search for the app and tap the cloud icon (iOS) or select the app and then tap the download icon (Android) to download the app again.
To switch to the new F-Secure app:
- In the ID Protection app, select the Activate new app link in the end-of-life notification. The Update to the new F-Secure ID Protection app page opens.
- Enter the email address and password for your My F-Secure account in the login form, then select Log in. The My F-Secure page opens.
- Select Add device and follow the on-screen instructions to install the new app on your device.
- Once you have installed the new app, move your passwords from ID Protection to the new app. If you install the new app on a Windows or Mac computer where you have ID Protection installed, the passwords are transferred automatically. You can then sync the transferred data with the new app on your mobile devices. However, if you only use ID Protection on mobile devices, you have to transfer your passwords manually. To do this, follow the platform-specific instructions for your device:
Important: If you do not move your passwords to the new app, you will lose all of your stored data when you remove the old app.
- Once you have moved your passwords to the new app, uninstall the old ID Protection app from your device.
- If you have installed ID Protection on several devices, install the new app and uninstall the old app on each of those devices. You only have to move your passwords to the new app on one device. After that, you can connect your other devices and sync your passwords.
