I am trying F-Secure Safe and wonder what happens if the a thief changes the sim card. Would the anti-theft function still function (locate phone, alarm, locking phone etc)?
The problem has been with my phone. I am using Cyanogenmod and it is set to give new apps only limited rights. Unfortunately, F-Secure app did not have the right to access and send sms. I've adjusted the permissions and after a restart, the field for the trusted number is available, now.
Without your response I would have thought that F-Secure doesn't have that feature any longer and had given up on F-Secure. Thank you very much for your support!
You can review this article.
"If someone changes the SIM card in your device when Anti-Theft is turned on, your device is locked and the trusted number receives an SMS alert. Note: Make sure that you have set up the trusted number (see article How do I create a trusted number for Anti-Theft?) and the device lock is turned on."
Thanks for your kind response with useful links. Unfortunately, I don't have the option to set-up a TRUSTED NUMBER under settings. I have enabled anti-theft with a security code and see only the following options under the settings:
- activate anti-theft
- email address (provided) to receive a new security code if lost
- change security code
- change screen lock
Do I not have the option because I am still on trial period? I am using F-Secure SAFE for Android (german version).
Do you currently have a sim card in your device?
Yes, I have. May it be that this anti-theft feature does not work everywhere. I live in a Pacific country.
