Very SAD to learn this issue is on demand for more than 2 years now and you're doing nothing ?

Aren't you listening to millions of poor customers without high speed internet ? They will simply discourage others buying F-Secure.

Windows 7 'root certificate' is another burning that is keeping our sales stopped. All other leading brands do not trouble here. Again, we didn't face the same for Windows XP or Windows 8. How do you explain this ?

    Best regards/Sharif

    Hi

What root certificate issue are you talking about? We fixed one in Internet Security 2013 service release 1 and I'm not aware of any further problems.

    Hi

We are facing this issue with windows 7 , 64bit  below is what the licesnese is giving

“ your system date is wrong of your recent certificate and out of date. Check the system date and go to windows updates to make sure that you have the latest windows recent certificate”.

note: they are using any other AV and it is working fine

    Hi

That's exactly the problem that was fixed. I asked around and there was a small configuration problem in service release 1 that prevented the fix from working, but it was corrected with service release 2. The fix is in the latest network installer, so you must not use any old version.

    Hello Ville,

    You saved us Mate !

Can we request a new installer CD for retail market wiht release 3 ? This may come through Dubai, or directly from Helsinki as we are resellers in Bangladesh. We are using the CD from October 2012 (?), and are stopped in the market...nobody's selling F-Secure with these problems. ASAP is what we need now !

How do you advise in other vital issue for which we are less preferred by customers to competitors ? How can we get OFFLINE installer ? Internet speed here is on TURTLE foot ! Customers are looking for offline installers which others are providing. This could also be part of the 'new CD' ?

    Thanks for your precious information

    Hi

I have only heard about problems in Windows 7. The fix works for Vista, WIndows 7 and Windows 8.

    Hi haloom,

The CD has logic to download always the latest network installer and use that, so the problem should be fixed for you. Could you try installing with the latest version from http://www.f-secure.com/en/web/home_global/support/installers and see if that fixes the problem. If so, then we have some issue with the CD.

Offline installer is problematic. User is not truly protected after installation since it's horribly out of date. It will have to download the latest version of software (the same amount as network installer) and reboot to be protected. And of course some users will never upgrade, instead using potentially years old offline installer which at that point offers no significant protection.

    Dear Ville,

Good to know that it is working while installing online, we will check on next attempts and give you feedback.

Yes, it troubled mostly with Windows 7 in our case. I didn't hear about XP or 8, hope they didn't have problem.

You are right. We see users with different choice, many many users are still living with XP ! Very few are taking Windows 8. The need for offline installer is customers with less/no IT skills demand retailers to instal and activate on spot, some gets installed and later activate by themselves.

When installing at retailers point (alongwith activating same time, for F-Secure) takes too long (as obvious) customers get impatient, start complaining. It is risky at this point when they quickly change mind and get away with other brands. If it was installed offline then it is sold and they can't switch.

This sounds tricky but that's exactly what other leading brands are also doing. We need to walk towards customers' expectations and convenience, at the same time keeping our quality high. Remember Bangladesh has 160 million people of whom today only 5% is using PC and growth rate nowadays is more than 10% yearly. And we have just introduced F-Secure last year while Kaspersky is leading with more than 50% share (in 5 years) followed by Norton with 20% in 10+ years !

Thanks again for your patient hearing to distant calls and proactive advice, highly appreciated :)

    Kind regards

    Sharif
