Hello :)

What is (besides what the name implies) the new Firewall Sensor in v25.9 actually doing, how it it enhancing our device protection? Monitoring inbound and outbound connections more critically?

And why, how would we know if it's causing system, connection problems?

  • Added firewall sensor for Device Protection. It is on by default but can be turned off from settings if it causes problems.

Thank you for any clarification you could post to help me and possibly others understand this feature better :)

We don't want to reveal exact mechanics of the protection to keep it harder for malicious actors to investigate them. It increases the accuracy of real-time protection by monitoring network requests.

This was already enabled in 25.2 but caused problems like bluescreens and DNS issues and was subsequently disabled in 25.6 (listed in 25.6 release notes in bug fixes). It is now fixed and re-enabled but we added a separate setting in case someone still runs into problems with it.
