Network Problems with Version 25.3

We have Network troubles with two of our F-Secure Installations after they update to 25.3

The first blocks an Fingerprint Sensor operating over network
The second blocks the communication between a Software running on multiple PCs

It worked before the Update, and not even disabling every setting in the F-Secure App makes it work. The only solution i found is deinstalling F-Secure completly and change to an alternative product.

disabling the Windows Firewall doesnt help either

Same here, this 25.3 blocks ALL local network traffic so I cannot even use my second computer as I use it with Synergy and it does not work either!

THIS IS FATAL BUG, FIX IT ASAP!

    System: Win10 latest updates applied

How to revert back to 25.2 which worked fine?

You need to remove the trusted network(s) and Trust them back, then it seems to work.

This is still of course bug but not fatal anymore.

Removing of trusted network and trusting back does not work. Deinstalling and installing of F-secure total works.

But there seems to be another issue with 25.3. VPN Hydra creates higher CPU load, aprox. 20%, for process ServiceHost: Network acc. to Windows 10 Task Manager, which I assume is not acceptable.

Is this higher CPU load a feature or a bug of VPN Hydra?

Oh, then I don't know, for me it worked on two totally different types of computers and for my friend as well.

Also I am using VPN Hydra and I have no process taking more than 2% CPU unless I of course play some video or do other heavier things and I don't even have Network acc. process, other Service Host processes of course but they take <0.3%.

So it seems this bug is related to some specific conditions…

Interesting that your workaround on two totally different computers, has been successful.

Concerning the high CPU load for VPN Hydra, it seems that the service "fsvpnextsvc" from AnchorFree Inc., which, to my impression, is used by F-Secure Total application, has probably some impact.

For testing, I deactivated the service for start up of W10. The CPU load decreased drastically to 2 - 5%., if F-Secure Total is running. Unfortunately VPN Hydra of F-Secure Total stopped working. So no VPN connection is possible. 😉

I propose that F-Secure Development Staff is clearing, if CPU load of about 20% (not 2% as AnttiNu mentioned it) is acceptable for F-Secure Total application and inform the community about it. If it is not acceptable I would expect, that this bug should be fixed, asap.

I think there is some serious bug if CPU goes to 20% for one process for long time.

I found the fsvpnextsvc service and its state is running but only in services, not in details tab so I don't know how much CPU it takes. There is, however fsvpnsdkhelperssvc.exe that uses 0% CPU.

There are total of 6 different processes whose location is inside F-Secure\SAFE folder but all of them use 0% CPU.

So it seems the system setup affects the services and processes quite a lot so it is very difficult to find the reason why in your system there is process that takes way too much CPU.

But as this thread is already over week old and NOBODY from F-Secure has said anything, I'm afraid they are not even reading this.

I would not expect, that NOBODY from F-secure is reading this forum, but may be you are right.

In meantime I found out, that on a second W10 computer I'm using still F-Secure Total V 25.2 with OpenVPN the CPU load for process "Endpoint Protection Service is about 1 -2 % and for process VPNDaemon is also about 1 - 2%. For me about 5% is an acceptabel at all CPU load for F-Secure Total but not the at all CPU load of about 20% for V 25.3.

Unfortunately I'm forced to update to V 25.3 until 25th of April, 2025 on the second W10 computer. Otherwise F-Secure Total will update automatically.

May be most of F-Secure Total users haven't realized over only 1 week that there is a issue with CPU load for V 25.3, because they haven't updated from V 25.2 to V25.3. It seems, that the issue has noting to do with VPN Hydra because also for OpenVPN there is a CPU load of about 20% for F-Secure Total V 25.3.

If the system setup is affecting so much the services' and proceses' effectivity of F-Secure Total V 25.3, I would say this is also a bug of V 25.3 to be fixed. If the CPU load of F-Secure Total V25.3 continuous to be at a level of about 20%, I have to think about the possibility to uninstall F-Secure Total V25.3 at all, because I don't want to be disturbed additionally by the loud noise of the CPU fan due to high CPU load.

Any other proposal to reduce the CPU load due to use of F-Secure Total V 25.3?
