New purchase vs. renewal

What is the technical difference between a new purchase and a renewal? Both seem to have the same price.

 

Can I renew my existing subscription by using a code purchased as new (not through the "renew" checkout)?

It depends whether it is our e-store renewal or Google Play/App Store renewal. Please find below:

 

E-store: Renewal gives one extra month for free (as compared to a new purchase)

Google Play/App Store: If we’ve increased the subscription prices after the initial subscription has been made, the original purchase price will be used with renewals.
