F-Secure SAFE / Internet Security installation not fully completed on Windows 10

Microsoft have published a cumulative update for Windows 10 (KB3093266). This update introduced a wide-ranging block on an installation component that F-Secure uses. The unfortunate side-effect of this is that the installation of F-Secure SAFE / F-Secure Internet Security on Windows 10 systems, including the cumulative update KB3093266, will partially fail.

F-Secure is working actively with Microsoft to resolve the issue. Note that, in Windows 10, Microsoft Defender is enabled by default. It will provide you with basic protection against any malware until the issue gets resolved. Note also that if F-Secure Browsing Protection is installed correctly, it is helping to protect users against malicious websites.

As soon as the issue is resolved, F-Secure will automatically provide an upgrade which will bring Computer Security to the computer.

For more information about the cumulative update for Windows 10, see Microsoft KB article https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3093266 (September 30, 2015).

  • Hi all,

Currently the situation is that we are in a process of distributing a hot-fix to all affected users by a channel upgrade.

Unfortunately this cannot be done for all users at once, so please be patient.

As we have included the fix for all available versions, currently this problem can be considered as resolved.
