Using Freedome and Steam

I'm trying to run the PC Steam application but it refuses to connect/authenticate when I have Freedome VPN running and this is a deal-breaker for me.  I have gotten it to work by forcing Steam to use only TCP with the -tcp start option but once loaded the games in my library still can't connect.  I've test driven several VPNs recently and all work with Steam without a hitch.  Is there something I'm doing wrong?  I have firewall, antivirus disabled.  Win 8.1.  Thank you in advance for any solution/advice you may have.

I have the same issue,with Freedome 1.0.1897.0 active , Steam cannot connect to the servers. I can open it and successfully connect only by -tcp start option.

Hi,

 

IP proxying is prohibited by Steam Subbscriber Agreement.

 

It is therefore more than likely that they monitor and restrict usage of VPNs.
