I am getting the same initial message, saying that i need to restart which i have now done 10 times and still keeps telling me there is a protection malfunction. Not able to scan, am not able to find the folder to delete any vms, can anyone help?
Did you notice when the error started, ie, was is after a Windows Update, or possibly after something else was installed on the machine?
Secondly, do you have any other anti virus or security software installed? Anything else may cause problems, other than Malwarebytes, which is compatible with F-Secure.
If no to the above, then my initial suggestion would be to reinstall F-Secure and see if that fixes the issue. If a straight reinstall doesn't help, then use the F-Secure Uninstallation Tool to fully remove the installation and start again. Bear in mind you may need your license key to reactivate the product after the reinstallation, unless this is SAFE, in which case, you can reinstall it via your SAFE Portal.
Let us know how you get on, but if none of that works, and no one here has any other suggestions, I think you'll have to submit a Support Ticket with an FSDAIG so that the tech guys can have a closer look.
