Virus

Hi

Before I download the SAFE product on to my Apple Mac Laptop I think I may have a virus on it. I keep getting popups coming up after trying to stream a football game.
Can you tell me if the SAFE product I'm about to download can search for virus's and fix them, or would the product be of no use to the machine due to having a virus?

I really shouldn't be answering this, as I'm not a Mac user and have no idea how F-Secure works on a Mac.  All I can say is, on a Windows machine, F-Secure will (or, gives the option to) scan for virusus upon installation.  I'm guessing that it may work the same way for a Mac.

 

However, what you have may not be an actual virus, but merely adware or a PUP (Potentially Unwanted Program), which, at least on Windows, F-Secure may not detect.  Have any odd apps suddenly appeared on the Mac which you don't recall installing?  It may be a simple case of uninstalling something which looks a bit dodgy.

 

But, as I said, I'm not a Mac user, so feel free to ignore this advice, as it could be totally wrong.
