Strange if you have an Internet Security 2010/2011 you should be able to use your key.
From whom did you get the Software?
Is it F-Secure branded contact F-Secure support and let the key check.
In case you have it from your internet provider then it will not work.
When did the issue start?
Did something change in the system?

The software is supplied to me by my provider.
That is XS4ALL.NL based in the Netherlands, they obviously have a special version for delivery to their customers.
However now the good news:
It seems that I have overcome the problem!
Coincidently it looks as if my computer suffered from a corrupted repository.
I was unable to install IE9 over IE8 and also unable to do a system restore to a previous state. The message I got was "0x800423f3". Searching for this error brought me to a repository reset and guess what Windows reported correctly on the combination with F-Secure.
Hopefully this will help others also but anyway thanks to everybody who tried to help me.
