FF7, BP and Google Weirdness

Since updating from IS2011 to IS2012 yesterday, when searching google using https://www.google.com/webhp I get no safety ratings but otherwise everything works fine. Using http://www.google.co.uk/ displays the safety ratings but at some point clicking google's 'Next' link, rather than taking me to the next page, dumps me at http://www.google.com/

 

Any ideas what is causing this weirdness?

I have a theory on why this might be happening. On my system I've never seen the the green checkmarks/safety ratings but I only every use google.com. I went to yahoo.com and I saw them.

 

My theory is that you don't get the safety ratings for secure pages - https. I know that google recently switched to defaulting to secure mode for logged in visitors for searches so it might not have anything to do wit the IS2011 to IS2012 upgrade. The google.co.uk page is not over a secure connection.

My homepage is https://www.google.com/webhp and prior to the upgrade the safety ratings worked, also getting kicked off my searches using http://www.google.co.uk/ to http://www.google.com/ never happened in the 2011 version. I think it has to be a IS2012 issue.
