Using 2013 key with 2014

I have F-Secure Internet Security 2014 trial version installed.

 

I bought version 2013 from a shop (they only had that, not 2014), I will get the installation CD etc. soon. I was wondering do I have to uninstall version 2014, install 2013 from the CD and upgrade it to 2014....

 

Or can I just use the existing 2014 version with the 2013 key I will receive with the order?  Are those keys the same for both versions?

I believe a subscription key is for a specific product and not a version. I just checked my latest order and only the product is mentioned, not the version.

So I would add the new key to the trial version installed. (if for any reason it shouldn't work, you'll get a message about it)

 

If you have a valid subscription key you can upgrade to the latest version at any time. I did it as late as yesterday when Internet Security 2014 Release 2 came out (even though automatic upgrades is planned in early 2014):

Note: You can't upgrade from the link above if you've purchased an F-Secure product from your ISP(broadband operator).

NikK is correct.  Just use the 2013 key to register the Trial version, and you should be good to go.
