How to find out which version of F-Secure Antivirus (Whether 2013 or 2014) is installed on my Windows 7 ?
F-Secure About (Tray icon) shows this information.
I am not at Home, so if I remember;
Tray icon>left-click>Computer Security and then the version number should be at the top of the main Window.
1.89.201 is the latest release and the 2014 version.
F-Secure R&D, Desktop products
@ Blackcat : Thanks for the reply.
This is the screenshot for Tray icon>About.
I mean that should it not display the "F-Secure 2013" or "F-Secure 2014" anywhere on its interface or in 'About' dialog box.
@ Ville I also think so.But it would be great if it was mentioned somewhere explicitly.
Most AVs give version in about box but F-Secure?
The version is on its interface but you have to LEFT-click on the tray icon and go into the Computer Security main Window.
I will post a screenshot in a few hours when I return Home.
And a warm welcome to this Forum
@Blackcat :screenshot is the image i posted above.Yeah Please post a screenshot of your F-Secure Main Window (UI) and 'About" dialog box.Thank You !
I've dropped my ISP version and just installed the latest version from F-Secure, and I have the same version number as you in the about window.
This is what my Computer Security window shows:
1. The About window as stated above gives just the build number.
2. The first and second image show that a right-click on the tray icon on the "View my subscriptions" gives the Version number both in subscriptions and installation.
3. Left-click on the tray icon>Computer Security brings up the main Window which NikK has shown above.
Overall F-Secure could make things simpler and more logical.
Thank you all for your replies.Here are the screenshots from my side.I think mine is different because its a trial (a recent 1 year promotional giveaway).I just wanted to be sure that i have a Latest F-Secure Technology (because it's not mentioned anywhere whether its 2013 or 2014)but i believe that i have a latest version as per tray icon<about which is "F-Secure 1.89 build 201"Anyways it is worth mentioning here that F-Secure is extremely fast and very light on computer resources.
@NikK and @Blackcat : thank you for your replies.can you please post the screenshot of your tray icon<about dialog box information.
There you go;
with your screenshot we can now see the difference between the trial and the full versions. As you say it would be much better if the GUI could confirm the year version. Is your "about" info after updating?
@Blackcat :I should have told it earlier that i have a Trial (for one year) version of F-Secure Antivirus.That would have saved your time in replying.
But You have F-Secure Internet Security and mine is Antivirus.I guess that their build would be different.Won't they?mine is : F-Secure Antivirus I will check the difference after a few updates ?
@AS: What you have there is Launch pad version. Launch pad is a common provisioning and licensing framework that both Anti-Virus and Internet Security (= Computer Security and Online Safety) are deployed on top of. The same version of Launch pad is used by both Anti-Virus and Internet Security products. 1.89.201 is the latest release.
You can also open the Anti-Virus user interface and select "About" from the menu to see the version of Anti-Virus component.
@Ville:Thank you for the reply.Now i believe that mine is latest release too .
Would be interested to see what your Subscriptions show?
@blackcat:My subscription windows shows as:
Unusual that a "full" 1-year license shows up as a trial.
I have never seen this before!
Was the activation code/license enclosed with the download package!
@blackcat :Yes,activation code/license was already enclosed with the download package This i got from a recent giveaway . ( a special distribution of promotional trial version for 1 year for free )
1.89.201 is the latest release for Launch Pad version according to @Ville. How come your version is 1.94.232, are you using a beta version?
No the official version.
1.94 is a beta version and not official release. You should only have it by participating in beta.
I uninstalled the beta for the full version about a week ago but had to revert back to an image backup at the weekend.
So I must have reverted back to an Image which had the Beta installed!
Yet another example where the lack of tagging/labelling lets down the product (no context menu logo/no branding in the Action Centre).
I had assumed it was the full version by the lack of labelling of a Beta and my license expiry date was the same as my full, official license (I will double-check the last point tonight as I am at work now).
Can we not have Beta/Technical Release branded on the program all the time?
Apparently, according to Ville, I somehow have the beta version is in use but with retail license, which should not be possible.
It is probably due to using an Imaging program and reverting back to the old beta in one of my old backups.
Overall, care is needed in using Imaging programs and using System restore; http://community.f-secure.com/t5/Security-for-PC/Reinstallation-failing-after/ta-p/19222
F-Secure does not like these two!
I have investigated the problem. Beta program had an experimental feature enabled where launch pad version is preserved when migrating to an older version (prevent downgrade). This unintentionally also took effect when migrating from beta to retail. The feature will be disabled in next beta release.
Only users who migrated from beta to retail might be affected, depending on how they performend the migration.
So in this case the imaging program did not cause any problems. Thanks to Blackcat for helping with the investigation.
