Installation problem with Windows 8 and Internet security 2013

Hi,

I am experiencing a problem when installing Internet security 2013 on a Asus x550c laptop with Windows 8. The problem is that after the product is installed, Wifi and LAN device drivers are unavailable and the peripherials don't work.

Longer description:

The laptop has the McAfee anti-virus product pre-installed, and Internet security 2013 is the first program to be installed on the machine (now in its factory state).

After starting the installation it appears to go on smoothly until it starts removing the McAffee product, where it appears to hang at 60% completion. The installation stops here for at least 1-2 hours. After a manually forced reboot the installation continues as if nothing would have happened, and tells that the installation was successful. However, the Wifi and LAN drivers are not loaded anymore, and wifi and LAN will not work. Device manager shows yellow exclamation marks.

I did not get Wifi back until I reverted the machine to factory defaults.

The affected drivers are:

Qualcomm atheros ar9485wb-eg

Realtek PCIe GBE family controller

    I had the same problem.

After refreshing the computer to factory settings, removing the original anti virus software, tried to re-install F-secure BUT, now can not complete the installation of the F-secure internet security 2013.

So, is really a bloddy problem between F-secure x windowns 8, I do not know which is the worst.

    I'm still strugling..

    Hi,

Make sure you backup everything up before you attempt to do this.

Before uninstall McAfee Software, you need to go this web page.

    http://service.mcafee.com/FAQDocument.aspx?id=TS101331

    Then install F-Secure.

As for upgrading to F-Secure Internet Security 2013 to 2014 version. You need to download the F-Secure upgrade version.

    Via this link.

    http://www.f-secure.com/en/web/home_us/support/installers

As for drivers need for your Asus x550c. You need to go to the country specific site inorder to download the drivers for your  Asus Vivobook for the Windows 8 64 bit edition.

Because Asus Laptops are region specific. It have different version and model number.

Some are Asus S550CM, in America and UK are using Asus S550CA.

So my advice go to the main asus web page and select the country that you stay on.

    http://www.asus.com/

Then click the model that match your computer and select support and select downloads. There you have lists of Asus Drivers specific to your Asus Vivobook model number.

Please take note, Windows 8.1 upgrade will be available in October 17. (build 9600)

Besure to make backup before you install anything once you upgrade to Windows 8.1.

There are many software that unable to run properly on Windows 8.1 currently base on my Beta Testing with  Microsoft.

Please check Windows Compatibility Center site before you install anything,.

    https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/compatibility/CompatCenter/Home?

Check AV-TEST for Windows 8 site here:-
