hello - i have all my alpha-num. usernames and passwords on a 4 page .txt file on my googleDrive. instead of manually entering each into Password Vault, is it possible to download and extract each into your Password Vault or just keep the .txt file secure in the Vault? thanks, Tom

    Hello,

The current F-Secure Total's Password Vault (or if it exists as a Password Vault alone; or as part of other packages) has certain limitations regarding the supported import formats. Such as (available for Windows and Mac): Importing passwords from other password managers |Online Guide / Help|

    So,

i have all my alpha-num. usernames and passwords on a 4 page .txt file on my googleDrive. instead of manually entering each into Password Vault, is it possible to download and extract each into your Password Vault

If the data inside the .txt file is stored in a supported structure, then such a file could likely be used for an import (by selecting a "matching" type from the list in Password Vault).

Some of them are .csv-based; others are default for browsers like Edge / Chrome / Firefox; and F-Secure own is more like .json-based and pinned to its 'certain' parameters and fields.

If your '.txt' are just text strings, for example, 'username - password' for each pair (possibly with some additional notes), you would likely need to manually prepare the file to make it importable. Alternatively, you could explore whether such a file can be "imported" into one of the formats or structures supported by the Password Vault (perhaps by first importing it into another application or browser, and then exporting it from there in a format that the Password Vault can accept).

However, did you mean by "to download and extract each into Password Vault" this kind of importing routine? Or your concern was about something else?

or just keep the .txt file secure in the Vault?

    Currently, it is not possible.

As for now, Password Vault is about storing either 'password' data or 'credit card' data / details. It cannot be utilized for storing files (as a file storage) and so things.

However, there is a workaround I suppose.

In Password Vault, you can create an entry (such as a "password" or "credit card" type). Choose a title like "GoogleDrive's safestorage" and put / paste the contents of your stored .txt file as 'a text' into "Notes" field.

This field is also encrypted and basically 'kept secure' in the Vault.

You can access, then, them through the Password Vault interface, copy any line, or perform other actions like editing, view them or whatever - just as you can do it with Google Drive routine now. With this basic understanding of usage.

If that file is too long or too huge for the limits of the "Notes" field or it is unusable to navigate. You can create multiple entries in F-Secure Password Vault and distribute the contents of the .txt file across them.

In the "Notes" field, you can copy either the entire content or any part of it; just as you would work with text in word processors or other programs.

    Thanks!
