Can Personalization in UI/UX Go Too Far?

Honestly, I feel personalization in UI/UX design is all about balance. When it works well, it makes the whole experience feel smooth and tailored — like Netflix recommending shows I actually enjoy or an app remembering my settings so I don’t waste time redoing everything. That’s good UX in action.

But if it goes too far, it starts to feel less like “design” and more like “tracking.” That’s when users lose trust. I’ve even stopped using apps before because the suggestions felt way too personal, almost like they knew things I didn’t give them permission to know.

For me, the best UI/UX design uses personalization to guide, not control. It should feel helpful, not invasive. The moment a user feels uncomfortable, the experience breaks.
