    Hello @JOnes

Our team was able to reproduce the VPN issue using the detailed steps you provided. This is a significant help, so thank you again for that valuable input.

We've shared your findings with our product team, and they've already started investigating. While they couldn't reproduce the problem when using the Hydra protocol or with a built-in Ethernet adapter or Wi-Fi (even with WireGuard), their tests have given us some helpful workarounds for you in the meantime.

Since the issue appears to be specific to the WireGuard protocol combined with your Realtek USB Ethernet adapter after waking from sleep or hibernation, you have a couple of options to get your VPN working reliably:

    • Switch to the Hydra Protocol: You can try changing the VPN protocol within your F-Secure application from WireGuard to Hydra. This might resolve the hanging issue you're experiencing.
    • Use Your Laptop's Built-in Connection: If possible, connecting to the internet using your laptop's integrated Ethernet port or Wi-Fi (instead of the Realtek USB Ethernet adapter) should also prevent the problem, even when you're using the WireGuard protocol.

Our team is actively working to understand why this specific combination causes the VPN to hang, and we'll be sure to let you know as soon as there's a permanent fix.

Please give these workarounds a try and let us know if they help.

Thank you, and have a lovely day.

Thx for the workarounds. If I observe these phenomena in the environments I use with F-Secure products, I will of cource report them and if necessary, provide an fsdiag file attached.

I think sending fsdiag is an overreaction to this issue at this stage, it's so easy to generate it by using f-secure 25.5 with Realtek usb eth adapter in Asus Zenbook laptop with F-secure VPN on(with wireguard protocol, wifi off) and just wait for it's recovery from sleep and hibernate mode.Hanging can be avoided just by using other vpn provider still other f-secure Total protection options active..
