Lieber Support,

The official languages of this Community forum are either Finnish or English, the latter of which is probably somewhat more widely known.

Can you tell us more specifically what device you are using, what is the operating system version of the device and what is the F-Secure software version?

For example, in F-Secure Total 19.8, the VPN Privacy version changed its name to just F-Secure VPN.

After this F-Secure support will probably send you a Private message in order to give you more detail instructions…

btw. We all are waiting for a stable version and final fix of this #F_SecureVPN story.

First of all, thanks al lot for your replay !

I face issues till weeks regarding lot of delays and timeouts using F-Secure Freedom and Firefox becasue of F-Secure VPN - TLS 1.3 hybridized Kyber problem - see please other posted informations.

The issues still persist! It is no longer possible to work with Freedom-VPN enabled, even with recomandet workaround "security.tls.enable_kyber=false".

I had already posted about this problem weeks ago, unfortunately, no solution was provided by f-secure dev- team. Apparently, it's a general issue, and frankly, I don't understand why the manufacturer, with software that's been paid for, doesn't make an effort to resolve the problem.

I have a standad environment: Windows 11 prof, FireFox and F-Secure VP (later Freedom). All this parts with the latest version/updates.

    Best regard

Sorry to hear.As said before the F-Secure dev-team is more or less actively trying to find the final fix to this F-Secure VPN problem and at the same time updating other parts of the consumer software with new valuable security features.Very challenging and time consuming one could think. The latest published F-Secure Total for PC is 19.8 and for MacOs 19.9(+betas ongoing for both) and both android/iOS versions for smartphones and tablets of course..

BTW. There is no Freedome name whatssoever among products any more(It is sometimes difficult for consumers to keep up with the names of these security products😁)

    Hello,

Just want to join in and to discuss a bit.

The issues still persist! It is no longer possible to work with Freedom-VPN enabled, even with recomandet workaround "security.tls.enable_kyber=false".

Could you try a couple of workarounds? Or just to understand the situation better?

Just, for example, I am not a very active VPN user - and if I try to use F-Secure VPN with Microsoft Edge (where PQC variant of TLS 1.3 is activated) - I simply can't load pages (for example, Google Search). So I can't talk about slowdown or anything, but I just can't use the website (at least one or all).

And this is slightly different from another type of the problem. As if I were using a network where the OpenVPN protocol is restricted, blocked or prohibited (for one reason or another) and F-Secure VPN UI would show a connection, but when trying to use the network - everything would off and web pages would not load, like any other network connection on the computer, due to the lack of Internet. At the same time, F-Secure VPN would try to establish a connection until the very end and without interruption, in general. But without much success and no clear indication that there was no real connection.

Therefore, could you somehow determine or clarify - are all the problems during connection to F-Secure VPN relevant only for (within) the browser, or does this apply to the entire system (all network connections)?

Even if it only concerns the browser (and by the way, is it only Mozilla Firefox? In previous comments you mentioned Microsoft Edge and maybe even Internet Explorer, which, it seems, can no longer be used) - you can try two workarounds to understand more precisely:

    • try another server (for example, not the closest to you / auto-selected one, but some other one. For example, change Espoo to Oslo; or DE location to NL location and so on). To understand whether the situation is more stable with another server. Or it (chosen VPN server / location) is not related to your problem at all.
    • try another VPN protocol. Most likely, in Windows, OpenVPN, OpenVPN (TCP) and IKEv2 are available in the F-Secure VPN settings.

if something improves the conditions, then it is possible to think that something is wrong with the OpenVPN configuration on the server (or on your ISP side); or some specific servers are either overloaded, or incompatible with something or whatever else. And so on.

I also saw that in other topics some possible connection with a specific device (routers or modems, I suppose) was discussed - where FRITZ!Box was mentioned. And, as I understand it, this vector of some problems for the F-Secure VPN solution is currently being studied by their support.

    Thanks!

I fully agree with situations described from Ukko ! I have same problems, at the beginning it seemed to be a delay problem but now it is clear that we have disconnections.

Change of server and/or browser does not help: sometimes it looks as if it works for few minutes but after that disconnection is sure

( I tried with both Firefox and Edge)

NOTE: Problem do not exist on Andoid Smartphone

with FSecure and VPN and using Firefox browser (I do not use Chrome) !

Congratulations, you have discovered problems with the F-Secure VPN product (current name for PC and MacOS). The problems occur and are observed mainly in browser use when surfing the web. The community homepage presents workarounds for various chromium-based browsers that mostly improve the situation, but various delays and slowdowns still occur. F-Secure's extended technical team is feverishly searching for a solution. We are looking forward to updates on the community homepage regarding any progress.

In the meantime, we consumer customers are "yoyoing" the product to maintain stable, secure and private connections.

    Hello friends
    @radetzky

for me it has gotten better under Windows, not perfect, but much better, you can work with it from time to time, but some servers / countries are not stable at all.but under Android it is even worse for me, there it is exactly the opposite, which does not seem to be the case with you, under Android I turn it off more and more often because it loads and loads.

I will read here every day if there is anything new, because it just doesn't work like before, thanks to the last update a few days ago at least my banks (Paypall, Klarna ect.) are all secured where I thought it didn't work anymore.ID monitoring, virus scanner or fraud protection all work without any problems.only the VPN just doesn't want to be good

    😫😉

VPN Connection from Firefox doesnt work after upgrading Fsecure to version 19.8.

    Firefox version 133.0.3
Only way is to passby VPN protection for Firefox but then theres no reason to pay from broken service to F-secure. Please find a fix for this ASAP.
