hy everybody !

windows 10 support will soon end next year 2025.

in case you cannot switch to windows 11, you will no longer receive windows safety updates.

my question is about this new situation :

if I do not receive safety updates, what will be the risk ?

And, F-SECURE protection, in that case, would it be sufficient ? Could we consider that safety will be OK as if windows updates would have been installed, thanks to F-Secure tools ? Could we go on with windows 10 + F-Secure safely ?

many thanks for your answer

    Hello @lucemm ,

thank you for contacting us here on the F-Secure Community Portal.

When Windows 10 support ends in October 2025, it will no longer receive security updates, leaving your system vulnerable to new threats. The most worrying issue is the lack of security patches from Microsoft. Any new vulnerabilities discovered after the end of support will remain unpatched, leaving the system open to exploits.

Using F-Secure can provide some protection. F-Secure offers features such as real-time threat detection, blocking of malicious websites and additional layers of security like the VPN. These tools can reduce exposure to malware and other threats, but cannot replace system updates. Antivirus software cannot patch vulnerabilities in the operating system itself, leaving the system vulnerable to new and sophisticated attacks targeting unpatched vulnerabilities.

If customers choose to stick with Windows 10, it is important to minimize exposure by avoiding sensitive activities such as online banking and ensuring that data is backed up regularly. Using strong passwords, enabling two-factor authentication and limiting internet access to only essential services will help reduce the risk. However, it is important to remember that even with these precautions and the extra protection provided by F-Secure, your system will not be as secure as one that receives regular updates. For long-term security, a switch to a supported operating system is strongly recommended.

Currently, there is no specific end-of-life date for F-Secure to end support for the 64-bit version of Windows 10, but compatibility can evolve with updates or changes in either the operating system or F-Secure products.

It's recommended to check periodically for updates from F-Secure regarding compatibility and make sure you're using the most recent version of their software for continued protection

We also encourage you to visit our Community Portal for the most up-to-date information regarding our F-Secure products.
