F-secure protection randomly stopping on Android

I'm told that "Chrome protection could not connect to accessibility services. Please try switching the service off and on again."

Sometimes it is off, sometimes it isn't but doing an off/on starts protection again, until it stops the next time.

Also, the F-secure accessibility shortcut button is dimmed out.

    Hello,

It may be useful to know what device you have, the version of Android, and the version of the F-Secure solution installed (if it is "fs protection", then its build).

// as a general thing - sometimes device's built-in things like battery saver or battery optimizers can affect the functioning of other applications (in particular, their "deactivation" and side effects like those described).

Also, I am not sure about "F-Secure accessibility shortcut button is dimmed out." Unless it is a really known thing in Android devices, could you maybe provide a screenshot about (I just can't figure it out where to find on my device; of course, if this is not about Parental Control functionality which is 'disabled' by default for adult profile installations).

    Thanks!

    Thanks for the reply.

    I have a Moto G22 with Android 12 and F-secure Total security & VPN V 24.9.8930898

I've sent log files to support so hopefully they'll see what's happening.

Just seen there's an update so will install that.

The F-secure shortcut button is accessed via System, Accessibility option, screenshot attached.

It resides overlayed on the screen and turns off protection but doesn't turn it back on. Couldn't screenshot it unfortunately.

To recap, chrome protection is turning itself off without telling me.

    Hello,

Thanks a lot for your response! Sadly I cannot right now check with my Android 12 device. I'll try later.

But since you have already contacted support, and there is update, then maybe everything will get better faster than I can try to reproduce the problem.

Now I thought that I probably haven't encountered exactly this situation - since I disabled Google Chrome on my device (Android 12) where F-Secure is installed.

// it seems that Moto G22 has some tweaks around battery: Battery tips - moto g22| Motorola Support UK

maybe you could try to check if there is anything that could cause F-Secure components to be disabled. Maybe there you can add F-Secure app or something like that to the exceptions. Or if F-Secure is listed as optimized in "Battery optimization".

Thanks for your time and suggestions, I'll have a look at what you mention and see if it resolves the issue.👍

    Hello,

sorry for the extra information. I just read this help page:

Setting up the Chrome Protection extension | Total | Latest | F-Secure User Guides

where a small note is written.

Note: On some devices, updates to the Chrome browser or other system tools may reset the connection between Chrome Protection and the accessibility service on your Android device. As a result of this, the overlay icon is not shown, banking protection does not work, and unsafe pages are not blocked. To resolve this issue, go to the app permissions in your device settings and switch accessibility permissions for Chrome Protection off and on again.

looks like some kind of known limitation, when you need to turn it off and on manually after updating some system components or browser.

It will only be unclear why there is difficulties to turn it back.
