Can both parents set screen time limits for their kid's Windows computer

Hi!

Our kid is using his own Windows 11 computer with F-Secure Total installed.

I have F-Secure Total installed on my Android mobile phone. F-Secure Total licenses are managed by me.

My wife has F-Secure Total installed on her Android mobile phone.

When I open F-Secure app in my mobile I can see all users of my Family (me, wife, kid) and their devices listed. When I click my kid's name I get to see and modify his Family Rules.

THE PROBLEM:

When my wife opens her F-Secure app in her mobile she can't see and modify our kid's settings ie. Family Rules by any means!

It would be essential that both parents could easily manage Family Rules for our kid. Currently I am the only person to do this and this is really annoying!

We have been using free Microsoft Family Safety app until now to manage screen time limits. It has however turned into very unstable product since update from Win 10 to Win 11 on our kid's PC. So I have been looking for a more robust product for parental control.

Please tell me there is some setting hidden that allows F-Secure "administrator" rights to both parent of our family? (It would also be nice to be able to set usage limits per day basis instead of weekdays and weekens only. Also to have some kind of counter showing on kid's computer that tells how much screen time is left would be helpful!)

    Hello,

I think it depends on how your wife started using F-Secure Total on her Android device. Have you invited her to your group (circle), adding her as a user with a different email, so that she has her own login/password pair.

    As described there: help.f-secure.com/product.html#home/total-windows/latest/en/task_E9B92BABDBC64E5998B26E0A84E020DB-latest-en

by calling this functionality as "sharing protection with a family member or friend".

If so, then this user will have limited (or no) influence on other users. As designed, perhaps.

Otherwise, I don't think there are any restrictions; and anyone with account access as an "adult" should be able to use the "People and Devices" features.

So, my recommendation or assumption is this: both parents use a “main” account for the My F-Secure account portal (the same step required during installation of the application) with an email/password pair shared between them. I mean both parents will use the “same” email/password pair to log into My F-Secure. Then, to install Total application on any of their devices. They should all be able to control Parental Control features, unless the installation is not yet complete for this functionality (for example, not signed in) or the installation is configured as a child profile.

About Time Limits: I also tried to make this feature request with some points about extended view of current options: community.f-secure.com/en/discussion/126580/alternative-limits-on-device-screen-usage-as-an-addition-to-the-daily-use-limits-and-bedtime

And what about counter showing on kid's computer. It should be, actually, somewhere. In the main UI or in "Parental control" section of it. I apologize if current versions do not contain this and I cannot check right now on my device (and there are no set limits in that part for my installation).

And I though that it may be useful for parents to know 'real-time' usage of time limits by kids. So, decided at the time to create this feature request: community.f-secure.com/en/discussion/126585/real-time-usage-statistics-of-time-limits-childs-restrictions-visible-on-parents-devices

    Thanks!
