-Secure Privacy VPN do not activate om MacOS rerturns message "Turn of Freedome VPN..."

I have MacOS Monterey 12.7.5.

And had Freedome installed and it worked fine. I then uppgraded to the new Freedome VPN. And got an error saying the I needed to turn of Freedome VPN to get the newVPN to work. After deactiviating Freedome FSecire VPN started to work.

Afterwords I uninstalled Freedome.

Since then the F-Secure Privacy VPN starts but when trying to activate and connect to a VPN server it rerturns with message "Turn of Freedome VPN to connect to F-Secure Prrivacy VPN" (or "Stäng av alla andra VPN Anslutningar… stäng av Freedome VPN förr att asnluta till F-securer Privacy VPN" in Swedish ;) everry time.

FreedomeVPN is NOT running and I can not find any traces of Freedome anywhere on the system. I downloaded the Uninstaller from F-Secure and run it to clean out all off Freedome from the system.

But I still get the message when trying to activate Privacy VPN.

I also tried to reinstall F-Secute Privacy VPN but with the same result.

    Hello @Treve

Our technicians investigated the diagnose file from your Mac.

They found from the fsdiag that the Freedome services have not been been running and their launch service entries are removed as expected for an uninstallation scenario but there is one stale file:

    /Library/Preferences/com.f-secure.freedome.plist

Ideally value for CurrentVpnState in this file should be “off”. In fact, this file itself should not be present after Freedome uninstallation.

The solution which we recommend would be:

From the fsdiag, noted that the last boot time is: 4th June 2024.

May be a system restart could remove it.

Otherwise, that file shall be explicitly removed.

Using Finder, go to /Library/Preferences folder.

Please refer Apple’s instructions: Go directly to a specific folder on Mac

Select com.f-secure.freedome.plist and move to Bin.

    Alternative to Finder:

open the Terminal app run this command and provide credentials to remove the file:

    sudo rm /Library/Preferences/com.f-secure.freedome.plist

Let us know if this helped.

    Regards

    1. settings —→ Privacy VPN —→ VPN Protocol —→ IKEv2
    2. (Allow permissions pop-up window)
    3. No more silly message:  "Turn of Freedome VPN to connect to F-Secure Prrivacy VPN"
    4. VPN is ON
