hi,

i'm frequently recording video streams from the web using the software 'Audials 2023'.

Audials is frequently warning me (message box) about a process that could cause gaps in video files: it is the 'fshoster32.exe'.

And in deed: several (not all) video files containing gaps from (total) few seconds to few minutes.

Audials is recommending (mesage box) to temporarily disable this proces to avoid recording gaps/errors.

How can i temporarily disable this process …?

greets fom Germany

Andy

I think I know what the problem is then if it only happens sometimes. It's probably database updates arriving and unpacking. It's not only fshoster32.exe, there are other processes involved too, but that will kick it off.

We no longer have manual gaming mode option but you could open Xbox game bar and mark Audials as a game. That will then make our product treat using it as gaming session and it will stop database updates for up to 8 hours.

    Hi Andy,

The product does not support disabling that process as it is very light weight and should not cause issues. This is the first time I have heard of any issues like this, would be nice to know a bit more why this process is causing these problems. Can you see high CPU or other resource usage?

You can manually disable this process by following steps:

    1. Open Settings / Viruses & Threats, scroll to the bottom and disable Tamper Protection
    2. Open Windows Services as administrator and stop F-Secure Hoster service(s)

Please note that this completely shuts down all functionality of the product and you are no longer protected. Remember to turn it back on when done.

Audials 2023 is showing the system load (german: 'Systemauslastung') while recording a video: see my screenshot below.

    My experience is:

When the system load is frequently for a long time at 100% (or nearly 100%) than mostly few seconds of the video are lost. But on the other side not every recording session/every recorded video is containing gaps/errors: when the the system load is between 40% and 70% then this video is OK.

..i guess this also could be a problem:

*) Audials 2023 and F-Secure are running on a quite old gaming laptop (msi GT72, i7-5700HQ, GTX 970M 3GB; Win10 Pro): this is my deskotop replacement.

*) Audials 2023 is outdated. The latest version is Audials 2024.

*) i could also take a closer look at the resources if it is helpful ( task manager / resource monitor)

    Greets Andy
