Upgrade from F-Secure Internet Security to F-Secure Total on about 10 my own private PCs/laptops.

As F-Secure Internet Security told me some weeks ago to upgrade to F-Secure Total by just creating a new account, I dit it. On my main computer it worked well. It shows the valid license with the right amount of days of validity.

But when I try to do the same on my other computers, I always encounter the same problem.

On another laptop, when propmpted to create an account or to login, I login because the account is already created. On the page which appears I can see that there is the valid license from my main PC with that amount of days of validity. But the license of this laptop is not added to the list. And also, so far I can observe it, nothing is converted to F-Secure Total on that laptop. I see that there is a button on the web page to add a license code. So I decided to add the license code from my laptop manually, but then I saw, that the F-Secure GUI does not offer the possibility to see the license code any more. So this is not possible.

A colleague (we are employees of a company which develops software for other companies according to specifications) who had a similar setup told me that you would need a new email address for every license. But I cannot not have additional 10 email addresses just because of installing an antivirus software.

Also this would raise the cost significantly. In the past I usually bought packages of 5 licenses for 2 or 3 years at an official F-Secure online software reseller (edv-buchversand.de) which were very well discounted. When an installed license expired, I entered a license from such package. When now I would have to buy a single license for a single computer (with a separate email address) this would be much more expensive. And because I am not using my computers for commercial purposes, but for experimenting and learning, this would make no sense at all.

That colleague which I already mentioned switched meanwhile to Avast after coming to the conclusion that F-Secure does not want to have non-commercial users anymore.

After using F-Secure for more than 20 years, I still don't want to believe this. Therefore I am asking how to add all my existing licenses to my F-Secure account.

    Hello @paul_1960 ,

thank you for contacting us here on F-Secure Community Portal.

The issue you are encountering is due to the fact that you have different licenses running on each of your devices. This situation causes a conflict, as the already created account cannot recognize the various licenses, prompting you to create a new account with a new email address each time.

To resolve this issue efficiently, I kindly ask you to provide me with the following information for each of your licenses:

    • The license key or code
    • The validity date of each license
    • The number of devices each license is valid for

With this information, I will be able to verify your licenses and transfer them to your existing account. This will ensure that all your licenses are correctly recognized and associated with a single account, eliminating the need for multiple accounts and email addresses.

For security and privacy reasons, I have sent you a private message with these instructions. Please respond to the private message with the required information to maintain confidentiality.

Thank you for your cooperation and understanding. If you have any questions or need further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact me.

    Best regards!

    I will not continue this.

    I already bought another product.

At the beginning of the 2000s, I attended various software trade fairs. There were also stands from antivirus software manufacturers. The stands of the major manufacturers were manned by sales people in polished suits who discussed the license conditions with customers. At the F-Secure stand, there were competent people with a technical background who were able to provide information about the product features. That's why my employer at the time opted for F-Secure (and I did too).
Now F-Secure's license policy seems to be coming to the fore. You can also find complaints from other users in the forums. That's a red flag for me. I no longer trust F-Secure.
