Hello,

If I run my browser in a sandbox (Sandboxie), the extension doesn't work properly. It says "Unable to connect to the application".
How can I solve this problem?

    Hello,

the extension doesn't work properly. It says "Unable to connect to the application".

Is it F-Secure Browsing Protection extension? Or F-Secure Password Vault extension for autofill functionality?

Sounds as the second one. Just interesting, in your experience, has this combination (Sandboxie and PwV extension) ever worked?

Also what is your browser / system?

I think the problem may lie in the specific design of the connection between the app and the browser via the extension. Let's say for security and other measures. As a result, conflicting or incompatible with Sanbboxie measures. For example, I saw a discussion about a similar problem with one of the other Password Manager applications a few years ago, when they decided to harden their security/privacy matters.

Did you try to reinstall extension (just in case). Is there any option in Sandboxie for allowing something like exceptions?

What is your current F-Secure solution? F-Secure IDP or new F-Secure Total app?

    Thanks!

    Hello,

    Thank for your reply

It is F-Secure Browsing Protection extension.

    I have F-Secure Total.

    My OS : Windows 11.

    Browsers : Firefox, Chrome, Edge

In Sanndboxie, I can set exceptions. But what to add for the F-Secure extension?

    Hello,

Sorry for the delay with my reply. And thanks for your reponse!

It is F-Secure Browsing Protection extension.

    I see.

Well, ""Unable to connect to the application"." - probably never saw it with BP extension (and I couldn’t really imagine what the context might be here). Could you add a screenshot or describe a little bit. Where is this written (when you click on the extension logo or some kind of pop-up)? Or maybe from Sandboxie? And what about F-Secure BP extension functionality. Does it work partially or not at all? For example, security rating logos with supported Search engines; Banking protection? Other things.

If it is F-Secure side situation, maybe BP extension cannot establish connection with Security Cloud or to perform rating/reputation lookup with third-party servers and then safely pass it to F-Secure Total app. Perhaps, there can be similar security and privacy measures as with Password Vault extensions.

In any case, I will try to check the situation with my devices (about Sandboxie and the F-Secure solution) a little later. If I manage to find something, I'll come back with an reply (including if Sandboxie exception can be anyhow useful there). Otherwise, it's good if someone else has something to suggest.

    Thanks!
