Firefox with F-Secure Browsing Protection AddOn: AddOn crashes with certain site(s)

Hello

I Use the Firefox latest release with the F-Secure Browsing Protection AddOn in v.5.5.11 on Windows 10 Pro (64-bit) (with latest updates).

The site "corsair . com" crashes the AddOn in Firefox and it's then no more functional with Google Search.

Please fix it.

Thanks in advance and greetings

Alpengreis

PS: Sorry for the complicated link (was not allowed to post links yet).

    Hello @Firmy

After receiving the update for the Firefox Extension to v5.6.16 it seems really to be solved.

    Till now all is good!

Thank you very much for the help!

    Greetings

    Hello @Alpengreis1

Welcome to the F-Secure Community. Thank you for your post.

I've been able to replicate the issue on my end, and it appears that the problem is isolated to the website https://www.corsair.com/us/en . Specifically, the green tick indicating that the website as safe is missing after visiting the Corsair website.

Upon testing other sites, everything seems to be functioning correctly. Therefore, it's important to note that the issue does not stem from our browsing protection; rather, it seems to be specific to the Corsair website.

However, I've observed that if the green tick is missing after visiting the Corsair website, temporarily turning off the browsing protection extension and then turning it back on seems to resolve the issue.

I would recommend trying the same approach on your end.

If you have any further questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Hello and thank you for your response and testing.

Yes, I knew that workaround already (works here too). But it needs to be fixed anyway.

    Greetings and good weekend.

    Hello @Alpengreis1

    Thank you for your patience.

We have released an update for the F-Secure app, now at version 19.5, and the extension has been updated to version 5.5.13. Could you please check if this resolves the issue?

From my end, I can see that the issue is no longer occurring. Could you confirm this on your side as well?

Thank you, and have a lovely day.

    Hello,

    5.5.13

my beta installation is also with 5.5.13 extension for Firefox.

and I still do able to reproduce mentioned trouble.

    my routine to check it:

    • open Firefox, open Google.no, type mentioned website URL (corsair . com); before visiting it - I also tried to check BP extension menu (worked).
    • search results with its search rating logos. visiting website, wait some seconds on the main page, scroll a bit. check that BP extension menu is still working.
    • then, tried to open home page, type then google.no in address bar, then typed previous search query as (corsair . com) and no ratings logos anymore.

At the time of topic - my experience was the same.

    Thanks!

    Hello @Firmy

Here no app update available yet (still on version 19.4). The extension is on v5.5.13 a while already.

    Still the same problem.

Maybe with app v19.5 it will change … but can't test since there is no update available yet.

    Thank you.

Ok, tested: still the same problem here too!

BTW: you wrote the extension were updated to v5.5.13 over a month ago or so, so it's not new.
