Blue moving line next toF-logo on top of screen

To the right of the F-logo in the top of the screen of my MacBook is a vertical blue line going up and down all the time.

What is it for and how do I have to deal with it?

    Thank you for your post.

    That's the file scanning indicator, and it's enabled by default. If you'd like to turn it off, simply unselect "Show real-time scan activity indicator in menu bar" under Viruses & Threats > Settings.
