    Hello Ukko

Thanks a lot for your helpful anwers.

Codes like FCFTBR2N005A7 are used from different retailers (geizhals.de, search for "f-secure total" or https://www.idealo.de/preisvergleich/OffersOfProduct/5139866_-total-security-und-vpn-5-geraete-2-jahre-f-secure.html or https://www.notebooksbilliger.de/f+secure+total+security+und+vpn+2019+384234 ).

So I think(?) that is a general code from f-secure company. "2" stands for 2years, "5" for 5installations (good name for user/device). What for stands "A7" and so on? Maybe there are no explanations published ... Will ask support like recommended.

    Best

    Hello,

So, maybe it is indeed something more 'universal'. However, likely that anyway used 'internally' for something as vendor code or barcode. And, maybe, in accordance with official F-Secure partners' guideline. Thus, user (probably) should not think about these codes unless if retailer is untrusted (for example, mistakenly use of this code with wrong solution description).

So I think(?) that is a general code from f-secure company. "2" stands for 2years, "5" for 5installations (good name for user/device). What for stands "A7" and so on?

Good thoughts, actually. But I think the rest of code is just 'hash' as difference between solutions. For example, during search for these codes (description on web shops sites) - FCFTBR2N005A7 [F-Secure ESD Total Security VPN 5 devices / 2 years; maybe so called (2017) version]; FCFTBR2N005D9 [F-Secure Total Security VPN 5 devices / 2 years; (2019) version; multilingual?!]; FCFTBR2N005E2 [F-Secure Total Security VPN 5 devices / 2 years; Non physical item; Digital Key]; FCFTBR2N005F0 [F-Secure Total Security VPN 5 devices / 2 years; 2020; multilingual?!]. Indeed widely used.

Yes, I am not sure if there is a public explanation. Perhaps, it is for business partners. User should to read description or ask 'shop/support' about clarification if something looks strange. F-Secure website is about description for solutions and other 'codes' can be used only for receipt documentation and so on. Thus, not need to choose solution by code.

Yes, I faced this too before. Then or use a very brief description, or I save the text before.

Probably while you were typing your description - Support Agent received request from someone else, and the slot will no longer be free.

You could try later. Or maybe official F-Secure Community team will respond here.

I think that with provided codes. Two are about 'digital key/no box' and two are about 'box' solution. However, good to read description on chosen retailer/shop. And another point is 'year-version' (and 'multinlingual'). Perhaps, there can be limited solutions for only certain locations or with locked upgraded - but, in general, F-Secure solution with set of supported languages and with an ability to provide autoupgrade to recent version on supported platforms.

    Sorry for my long reply.

    Thanks!

    Hello Ukko

    Thank for your verbosed/extensive answer.

Sense: These are our internal SKUs for logistic partners ... The code can/could change for different countries/special editions/...

Internal codes from F-Secure (real products I guess):

    • F-Secure SAFE/TOTAL: XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX
    • F-Secure Internet Security: XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX
    • F-Secure Freedome: XXXX-XXXX-XXXX
    • F-Secure KEY: KEYXXM-XXXXXX

So some retailers have wrong descriptions for the products (piecework for maintaining online content, sometime errors in the description ...?). Thats why I trust more in codes from the manufacturer ...

Thanks for your time to help 😊
