Lockscreen shuts down Freedom VPN on Android phone

This did not happen when I first installed the app on my android phone back around May 2017. But since end of last year this is happening.

 

What I tried so far is allowing the app all the rights it needs, but none of that helps.

 

Is it a phone problem or an update problem?

 

I am using a huawei honor.

 

another note, this also happens after a short time after going into lockscreen, just pressing lock does not shut down the app.

Maybe it is problem with Huawei Honor.
Samsung-phone works just fine.
