On 7 December 2020 NortonLifeLock announced to acquire German cyber security vendor Avira. How does this affect F-Secure?
Resolution:
On 7 December 2020 NortonLifeLock announced to acquire German cyber security vendor Avira. Though F-Secure is licensing Avira’s technology the acquisition has no impact on F-Secure’s products. F-Secure products use multiple prevention and detection technologies and Avira is only one part of our anti-malware capabilities. We are in full control of our capabilities and can switch engines and vendors if we deem that necessary.
We also like to emphasize that we are not sharing any customer-specific data with Avira. Our products communicate with our own security cloud and hence no customer sensitive information is shared with 3rd parties, including Avira.
