Testing Browsing and Tracking Protection with safe URLs This article gives information about the safe URLs that you can use to test the security features within our products.
Our consumer products, such as F-Secure Internet Security, F-Secure Total, and F-Secure VPN protect you while browsing the internet with technology such as Browsing Protection, Banking Protection, and Tracking Protection.
To test the browsing and tracking protection features in a safe environment, we have created some test sites that can be used to see that our products are working as they should. To test these URLs effectively, make sure of the following:
- You have the product installed.
- For Internet Security and Total: The browsing extension is enabled in the browser.
When entering these test sites, they simulate the same situation as if you were to enter sites that have been classified by our Object Reputation Service Platform (ORSP).
Browsing Protection (Internet Security and Total)
To test Browsing Protection, you can use the following URLs:
- safe.fstestdomain.com. This site has been deemed safe for you to enter.
- unsafe.fstestdomain.com. This site has been deemed unsafe and the program automatically blocks the site. As the site has a "-80" safety rating, this is in the high risk category with significant risk of malicious cyber activities.
Banking Protection (Internet Security and Total)
To test Banking Protection, you can use https://banking.fstestdomain.com.
When you enter an online banking site in the browser, Banking Protection activates automatically raising the security level. Upon activation, a flyer appears at the top of the screen informing you that Banking Protection is now turned on.
While in Banking Protection mode, all new connections from the computer are blocked. By blocking the connections, banking trojans and other malware cannot send any of your credentials to cyber criminals.
Tracking Protection (VPN)
To test Tracking Protection, use http://trackingdomain.fstestdomain.com. When entering this site, the product identifies the site as a tracking domain and blocks it.
If, for some, reason, you do not get the same results, check that the product has been installed correctly and that the browsing protection extension is enabled in the browser.
