Recommendations about exclusions in F-Secure products - F-Secure Community

Recommendations about exclusions in F-Secure products
This article outlines F-Secure's recommendation about exclusions in all F-Secure end-point protection products.

We recommend not to exclude folders or complete drives from scanning. Exclusions could potentially create security holes in your system. A hacker may figure out how to read the list of exclusions and use this information to compromise a system, which is why we recommend the following:

If you're having performance issues in combination with any of our end-point protection products, please report them to F-Secure Customer Care. We need to identify and fix the root cause of the issue.

If you believe that a program or file that you have is incorrectly identified as harmful (false positive), please provide F-Secure with one or more samples of those files via Submit a Sample. This is so that the offending detection that caused the false positive can be fixed.

There is no need to add any exclusions to your product after you set it up. The product should work as expected after installation and system configuration (for business products). For performance reasons, the product already pre-identifies file types that not likely to contain malicious code, and excludes those from scanning.
