Updating F-Secure SENSE Router prior to running setup F-Secure SENSE Router can update itself before running the setup if it is connected via a cable to a working internet connection. This allows you to run the setup using the latest firmware with all available fixes. Also, this allows you to bypass the firmware update part of the setup process in the application.
To update the SENSE Router:
- Check that the internet connection on your existing router works through a cable.
- Plug the cable between the existing router LAN port and the blue WAN port on SENSE Router.
- Reset SENSE Router in one of the following ways: After a successful reset and restart, you'll see the pulsing squares.
After approximately two minutes, SENSE Router tries to connect to the F-Secure update servers.
SENSE Router downloads the updates. This may take several minutes depending on the speed of your internet connection. There is no visible indicator for the user while this is going on.
After a successful download and signature verification, SENSE Router starts updating its software. The display shows the misaligned squares for a few seconds, and then SENSE Router will restart automatically.
After a successful restart, the device shows again the pulsing squares, and you can start the normal setup. Just follow the instructions shown on the app.
